Resurrecting Ghost Public Schools

ghost-schoolsChief Justice of Pakistan after hearing the case about the ghost government schools in Pakistan noticed that it is the basic and most important right of every Pakistani child to get education and this is the duty of government to provide circumstances to every child so that education can be made compulsory.

Chief Justice marked that government sector schools have been turned into ghost schools because government is not focusing on education and despite of billions of funds the heads of public sector schools had showed no performance. The performance and impact of government schools has made a very bad image in front of our public; now people want their child to study in any private institute rather than in a public sector institute only because of irregularity and no discipline.

In 1947 when Pakistan came into being then the most important thing was there was no discrimination in the education level especially in urban areas, government schools were prominent in showing their best results and then as the result of this education we build a faithful and educated society.

Earlier the headmasters of public schools were respected in their societies and they were not only the individual personalities, the teachers were respected by their students and the parents. Parents preferred their children to study in government schools. Teacher and masters used to work for their pupils not for to earn money.

Chief Justice said that instead of having so much budget and NGO’s help for education; our education system is not growing up. This would only be controlled if a civil society led monitoring mechanism would be made to keep check and balance in the educational system and keep an eye on the performance of public institutes in various districts of Pakistan then quality education can be guaranteed in the government schools.
